Accomplishment: Built out model for configurable, extensible rules engine for disambiguation engine

Description:

Developed and implemented a model for abstract configurable rules for the Berkeley Prosopography Services (BPS). This model has application to other projects as well. Presented this model to Project Bamboo workshop as a design pattern for allowing humanist researchers to control and configure reusable services.

Purpose/Importance:

Need to move from a proof of concept to a set of reusable services. Establishes model for building useful services in support of humanities research, following strategic model for campus IT. Demonstrates useful IT service for core use-case in humanities research.

Impacted areas:

Direct impact on campus partners and academic project partners at various universities. Indirect impact on project bamboo partners.

Strategic Alignment:

Aligns to campus strategic direction to provide support for research and teaching, using reusable web-services on common service platforms.
