Roles and User Stories

We will link user stories to feature and roles. Features in this instance are high level functionality. Each feature will most likely contain multiple user stories which identify various flavors of functionality. The feature is a sorting function; the user story is a specific implementation effort.

Roles
We need this committee to represent various constituencies of IT professional on campus. Some IT professionals will simply find and use information they find in the TechCommons; others will contribute to the evolution of the TechCommons by adding a technology, editing a technology entry, add a rating or review, rank a review, or simply comment; finally, a small subset of IT professionals oversee an array of technologies and will need to think through how to ensure that entry and monitoring of their products does not overtax their staff. I will refer to these roles as consumers, contributors, and coordinators. People can may play multiple roles, but it is important to have thought through the needs of each role.

User Stories
These should be one to two sentences written as such: An actor + functionality + the benefit received by the actor. For example: 1) As an IT professional, when I search for products I want to be able to filter on campus-provided products so that I don’t have check each product individually, or 2) As a service provider, I want to be notified immediately if a review of my product has come so that I can respond to it immediately.

Note: Any column in this table can be sorted by clicking in the header row.
