SMaSCH-CollectionSpace Design Analysis

Project Description

Members of the CollectionSpace project team along with staff in Informatics Services will perform design analyses of SMaSCH, the collection management system used by the University and Jepson Herbaria at UC Berkeley.  The overall goal of this project is to explore and demonstrate what CollectionSpace might look like for a natural history museum.  Subgoals of this effort include the following:

  • Identify and assess functional gaps in CollectionSpace relative to the current and emerging needs of the Herbaria
  • Assess whether the domain and schema customization modeled for CollectionSpace will be sufficient for the Herbaria

Because this project is a joint effort between CollectionSpace and Informatics Services, content will be created and managed in wikis maintained by both groups.  As much as possible, the content should be made available seamlessly to all stakeholders.
