Froissart's Chronicle

This demonstrator is the work of Rob Sanderson (University of Liverpool) based on his PhD research providing a transcription of a Medieval French manuscript of Froissart's Chronicle. The demonstrator shows the manuscript pages using Djatoka[2] (so that the page images can be quickly zoomed and panned) in addition to javascript based interaction with the transcription (in XML), so that moving the mouse over the pages brings up the transcription for the manuscript lines. The demonstrator also includes search capabilities using the Cheshire 3 XML search system[1] (search using the question mark button on the interface) with results shown as both the transcription lines and the images of the manuscript lines matching the search.
This demonstrator shows the potential for both display of scholarly work (the transcription) as well as being a potential teaching aid for Medieval French, manuscript studies, paleography, etc.
