Introductions

Need Oral History collections. Need ways of getting  content OUT.

Do you have any questions regarding how these directions interrelate?

How does Bamboo relate to what's already out there? Nitle? Standards for metadata already out there.  Is this project an opportunity to address best practices?

They are all interrelated, but should Bamboo address them all?

How can/should Bamboo do it all?

Have to do Services at a national/international level to get any traction.  Should advocacy be Bamboo's role? Standards should be taken care of by others.

What is relationship to commercial repositories?  What's in it for them?  Do we need to think about business plans?

What is the size of social networks re: Bamboo? Does Bamboo exist to help other networks interconnect?  We want to network with the people in this room. How can Bamboo help us do this?

Want to stop reinventing the wheel. Need Bamboo to "consolidate."  Everyone should not have to build their own "thing."  Can we aggregate demand?

What's the optimal scale for Bamboo?
Open sourse vs. Commercial
Need a place where you can store data?

Do these directions include your interests and concerns?

They definitely do.
Gives us opportunity to transform 21st century library.

We are concerned as small institutions of where we fit and what our role will be. Can small schools be used as test beds?
Small schools are more nimble.
