Real Time Real Space

Definition

Technology is not just a tool for archiving, searching, storing, analyzing, translating, etc., which are useful and important things. Technology is also a co-collaborator, partner, creator and agent of change in the fabric of the world. As people working in the humanities we need to look at the role of real time distributed technologies and the increasing role they will have in how we practice our scholarship, research and performance. With that in mind we must examine the places within which we work and communicate. Real spaces outfitted with real time high speed networking equipment for multi-location communication and remote collaboration/creative processing will become more necessary as distance/proximity and real/virtual conflate into new modes of understanding.
