Completed the Campus Collections Management System Strategy project which gained unanimous support from the BNHM-IST Steering committee. The strategy and supporting sustainability plan was developed jointly with Data Services, BNHM Directors and key museum staff.
In partnership with BNHM and other Informatics Services partners, submitted 12 proposals to campus and external grant funding agencies
Launched 2 new websites
Migrated preliminary collections data from PAHMA and UC Jeps museums to v0.7 of CollectionSpace. The results were presented broadly at the UCCSC, gaining system-wide interest in CollectionSpace.
Presented further progress with CollectionSpace migrations at the Society for the Preservation of Natural History Collections (SPNHC) conference as a result of collaboration with the Consortium of California Herbaria and Cadensys.
Deployed lightweight field management tools for biodiversity scientists as part of the Moorea Biocode project.
Media Vault Program
Completed requirements analysis and product evaluations, resulting in the selection of Alfresco an open-source Enterprise Content Management (ECM) intended to act as multi-tenant platform that provides an easy way for campus scholars to safely organize, manage and share their research media.
Conducted a beta program in partnership with a beta testers allow prospective users to confirm the solution meets their needs, identify and address roadblocks to adoption for various campus groups (departments, research units, individual scholars, collections/museums), surface outstanding bugs, issues that need to be address before campus release.
Completed the localization and platform hardening to create a technically releasable service to the campus. It is currently branded the Media Hub, available to members of Data Services for demonstration purposes.
Received additional funding ($30,000) from the IT Bank to wind down the MVP in it's original form, and to incorporate the program findings in a more general OE-oriented approach to campus content management.
Assumed functional ownership of IST Content Management hosting and consulting services that include:
Hired Marlita Kahn, acting as UCB CollectionSpace PM and assuming Lead Project Manager role for the Bamboo Technology Project
